iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max price in Kenya

The iPhone XS Max was the first really big-screen modern iPhone. It still looks good, but it no longer gets new iOS versions.

Refurbished listings we found ranged from about KSh 38,800 to KSh 55,500 depending on storage and seller. Individual sellers may ask less, but check condition carefully. Do not pay more for an XS Max than a newer iPhone 11 Pro Max would cost.

We found refurbished listings from around KSh 27,000. Both models came in 64GB, 256GB and 512GB.

What you get

• iPhone XS Max: 6.5-inch OLED, A12 Bionic, dual 12MP cameras, 3,174 mAh

Neither has 5G, and their last major iOS version was iOS 18.

Better options

If you love big screens, the iPhone 12 Pro Max at KSh 65,000 adds 5G and still runs iOS 27.

64GB, 256GB or 512GB?

There was no 128GB version of either phone, so be careful with adverts claiming one. The 64GB model fills quickly, and 256GB is the better everyday choice. Prices at some shops seem to depend more on the seller than on the storage, so compare several listings.

XS or XS Max?

• XS: a smaller 5.8-inch phone that is easier to hold, with a smaller battery.
• XS Max: a large 6.5-inch display with better battery life, which makes it nicer for video and reading.

Both have the same chip and cameras. If you are buying used, the battery's current health matters more than its original size.

What to check

Test Face ID, check Battery Health and confirm iCloud has been signed out. Look at the screen colour and brightness, as a replacement display can look different. If an XS Max costs nearly as much as an iPhone 11 Pro Max, the newer phone is the better choice, as it still gets iOS updates. Read our used iPhone checklist.
